CollegeDunia Web Pvt Ltd, a Delhi based online venture,
engaged in providing vast information about all streams of colleges/business
schools/institutions spread across India on their portal CollegeDunia.com has reportedly
raised a stupendous amount of USD 162,787 (approx. INR 1 Crore) by means of
angel funding from an online portal Gaadi.com owned by MIH group (CEO Umang
Kumar). There are certain hidden investors too in this new collaboration whose
names are not yet disclosed. The whole funding is going to be used for
technology enhancements, marketing and operations of the venture. Founder of
CollegeDunia, Sahil Chalana reportedly told about these investment plans in an
interview on Techcircle.in.
CollegeDunia has been launched this year only (May 2014),
currently with a purpose of providing comprehensive information about almost
all colleges/institutes/B-Schools of India. Aim is to provide as much useful
information starting from the history, fee structure, courses offered,
facilities, faculty and much more under one roof. Chalana’s aim is to build it
as most powerful search engine for colleges, courses and entrance examinations.
Optimistic plan is to add almost 8,000 more colleges’ information in the
similar manner. Furthermore, this portal aims to include all polytechnics,
coaching institutes etc. along with their details.
Current manpower is 30 for handling complete activities and
the way it is expanding, it will increase to more than double in next 6 months.
Current hits being reported as 1 lac aiming to 1 million in the same stipulated
period of 6 months.
